Mwangi turned a moribund microfinance company into East Africa’s largest financial service provider. Equity Bank serves millions of customers all over East Africa.
Mwangi is currently the chairman of Kenya’s Vision 2030 Delivery board, which is responsible for ensuring that Kenya becomes a middle income country with global high standards of living by the year 2030. He represents Africa in the presidency of the Global Economic Network and serves as an advisor to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) on commercialization of microfinance in Africa.
